Hurricane Ike

Many have asked if we are in danger here in Edinburg. As you know Hurricane Ike is going to hit the Galveston area. We are far enough south that we should not get much activity here. Apparently babies from hospitals in danger have been evacutated to our local hospitals. We have seen many motor homes traveling south here today. One has asked if they can use one of our motor home hook-ups here on campus. So it seems that we are in an area to be evacuated to. We are relieved that we are not in danger here, but we certainly feel for those in the affected areas. They need our prayers.

Mexico Today

We visited Neuvo Progreso again today. I wish I could show you pictures. We took a sewing machine last visit, and we were so happy to hear that it worked well and they have been sewing a lot of clothes for the children including school uniforms.
We had two new students accompany us today. They are Corrie and Bethamy Anderson from Kansas City, MO. They both just graduated from the Seminary program at Calvary Bible College, and are now studying Spanish for a semester before going to Guadaljara to minister. They found a very different view of Mexico than is presented in the tourist area.
It remains very hot and humid here; summer hangs on tenaciously. It has been 95-98 degrees for a long time, with a high level of humidity.
