My parents farmed the Neir family home near Marcus from 1936 until they bought the farm near Meriden in 1959. The first pictures are of the home near Marcus; it was dark at the time but will give an idea to family of what it is like. It shows our family home, Roger relating how as children we would climb to the roof of this chicken house, he would hypnotize the hens and drop them off. (I often wondered how that affected their egg production.)
The other pictures are the farm near Meriden - the bean fields, some of the out buildings, and the old barn. We all had a hand in painting that old barn about 40 years ago. This barn was used for years for "Christmas in the Barn" with the angels in the open loft, bales of hay for seats on the lower level with the animals. Some years over 200 attended this event in sometimes sub-zero temperatures.
