Leaving Cabanaconde, we rode to Cruz del Condor. Early every morning the condors come up out of the deep canyon to feed. The condors can have a wing spread up to 10 feet. It is a spectacular sight, we are told. We were there by 8:30, arriving by pickup truck, with Dan and Jully and our luggage in the back.
As you will see from the next pictures, it was very foggy, and cloudy. The condors will not come up through the fog. We waited and waited, till after 10 a.m. and it never cleared, so we left. Having met several tourists there, we saw one of the families later in Chivay, and they said they waited till noon and the fog never lifted. That was a real disappointment for a lot of tourists. But it was a beautiful sight of Colca Canyon, some say the deepest in the world, deeper than the Grand Canyon. It was spectaculare there.

After climbing in the mountains all day, we had told people to come to the plaza for a Bible service at 5:00 that evening. The next pictures are of that time. Wilson Voldez, a 28 year old Quechua young man, from 6 1/2 hours up the side of the mountain by the waterfall, was so interested in what Dan had to say. During the prayer following the meeting, he gave his life to the Lord. He is a serious young man, and he wants to keep in touch. He gave us his e-mail address. We have no idea of how he has a computer; he must come the 6 1/2 hours down the mountain to Cabanconde and go to one of the internet places. Please pray for Wilson. He never finished high school, he has 2 years left. We encouraged him to finish his high school training, then he may be able to come eventually for Bible training. He said he would try to finish.
