Today we visited Gladys Porter Zoo in Brownsville. It was a hot day but started raining softly about the time we were finishing up seeing all the animals.

Columbus Day Weekend

Since we have a 3 day weekend, Don and I decided to go to Brownsville and spend a couple of nights there. We are staying at the Best Western Motel. We arrive about 11:00 a.m. and found a room and checked in. After eating at Furr's Cafeteria we drove to Boca Chica Beach. It is about 20 miles from Brownsville. We drove right down to the water. This is a beach that is totally natural, no modernization. We spent the afternoon there, then we returned and spent some time in the pool here at the motel. It was in the high 80's and just beautiful here today.
Just a word of explanation - the first pictures are taken from the jetty at Boca Chica and looking toward S. Padre Island.
We plan to go to the zoo and see some of the other attractions here. We may go to S. Padre Island before going home on Monday.
