Arequipa News

The last couple of days we have been resting up some. On Monday morning Don and I took a taxi to go to Fundo del Ferro, don´t know what that means, but it had lots and lots of shops where we could buy souveniers. We did some shopping, got some alpaca scarves, a hand woven Peruvian wall hanging etc. Then we found a money exchanger and changed some money. The American dollar continues to devaluate. It was less than last week.
Jully made lunch for us and and brought it to our hostel, since they live on 3rd floor and I have much difficulty with their steps. She made spaghetti with a sauce with chorizo, beef, and chicken wieners. It was really good. Later the four of us went to the market to get a hat for Don for when we go to Lake Titicaca. We have all been sunburned and peeling already, and they say the sun is really intense on the lake. We also got some microwave popcorn which we had for supper. That tasted really good.
Dan teaches 5 Bible classes today at a Christian school. Jully is going to come and spent the day with us. We may visit the alpaca farm again. I really liked it there.
Tomorrow we will leave early for our 5 hour bus ride to Puno, by Lake Titicaca. We are praying for nice weather on Thursday so we can go out on the lake and visit the floating islands made of reeds, where people live. Lake Titicaca is the highest navaigable commercial lake in the world. I believe it is 12.500 ft. It is very cold there, so we will bundle up. We did find a hostel that has heat in the rooms. I do hope the heat works. It is very cold at night even here in Arequipa, but it is much colder there.
Please pray for continued good health, that Don will not have motion sickness on the bus, and that we can be a good testimony where ever we go.
