Trip to Puno

This morning we boarded a bus, La Cruz del Sur. We left about 15 minutes late at 9:00. It was 5 hours and 39 minutes before we arrived at our destination at Puno at about 12,500 feet. It was a pretty good ride in the mountains reaching an alto plano, or high plains. Many cattle, sheep, and llamas along the way. Don did not get motion sicknesss today, but once here we all had a headache. We finally ate our noon meal about 5:00 p.m. We had reserved a hostel that we thought would be on ground level and fairly nice at $40.00 the most we have had to pay anywhere. Well, we were sorely disappointed. Our rooms were on an upper floor and very tiny and we did not like the atmosphere. Dan and Jully went to look for another place while Don laid down to get rid of his headache. They found a great hotel for $10.00 more per night. We packed up our things, gave the first hostel $10.00 and left. We had used their bathrooms. This hotel that we are at Royal Inn, is great. In U.S.A. it would be about 150.00. Has a jacuzzi, O2 of needed and many other niceties that we have not had here in Peru.
Tomorrow we will leave at 6:45 a.m. for an all day tour on Lake Titicaca to 2 floating islands made of reeds, where people live. It is an enclosed boat so should not suffer from the bright sun. We did bring sunblock and Don bought a hat for the intense sun.
Thanks again for your prayers - they are needed in so many situations. This morning we arrived on 5 minutes or so before the bus left and they were not going to let us on because Jully did not have her pictue ID along. We prayed, they let us on.
Will let you know tomorrow how our tour of Lake Titicaca went.
