In Cusco

This morning Don and I got up at 3:50 a.m. so we could be ready for our taxi at 5:00. Our plane left Arequipa at 6:45 and we arrived in Cusco about 8:45. We were picked up from the airport by our hostel. Then they charged us for the ride. We had not had anything to eat, so they brought us some pan (bread) at the hostel. We arranged a tour of Machu Pichu tomorrow, and wow is it expensive. Twice what we had planned.
Don and I then got a taxi and went to the main plaza. The shopping was supposed to have been quite a bit less here, but we found it to be about double of what it was in Arequipa. We have visited 3 plazas, had our shoes shined, and are pooped from walking on the cobblestone streets.
Dan and Jully are to get on a bus tonight for a 10 hour ride, and we will meet up with them at Machu Pichu. It is a 4 hour train ride from here and a 20 minute bus ride. Dan and Jully can go on a ¨servicio¨train that is only for Peruvians for a fraction of the backpackers train we will go on. We may end up in different tour groups , but can be together once we are at Machu Pichu.
